Residential
AEI residential services offer safe, homelike settings in which individuals referred by the Department of Mental Retardation (DMR) learn the skills necessary to live more independently in their own homes. Located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts ( Attleboro to Cape Cod), AEI’s residential services specialize in serving dually diagnosed individuals, particularly the MR/MH population.
Individuals in residential settings receive assistance in developing the skills to maintain their home, budgeting, meal planning and preparation, shopping for household goods, and more. Emphasis is placed on using community resources for religious, cultural, social and recreational purposes. Residents are supported in purchasing their own furnishings, clothing, and other items they enjoy (CDs, TV, VCR, stereo, sports equipment, etc.). Staff assist individuals in maintaining a positive health regimen through visits to personal physicians, exercise and nutrition.
AEI also supports individuals in the purchase of their own homes. Staff are scheduled to offer flexible, in-home supports that are non-intrusive and individualized so that the maximum benefit of home ownership can be enjoyed.
